If your student is looking for a college experience with supports , but not a degree program, there are seveal major colleges that offer them now!

A transition program is a one to three year program designed to improve your student's life skills, interview skills, social skills that they will need to function as independently as possible.  Many of these programs offer vocational training as well. There are several day programs in the DFW area to choose from. transition programs

Residential programs are communities built for adults with special needs who need some help living independently.  Residents have the option to live in shared homes on "campus," with staff to help them learn the life skills to become as independent as possible. There is a community center with planned social activities, transportation for residents who are unable to drive, and help obtaining and retaining employment.
